After working as a registered nurse on the Oncology Floor at Johnson City Medical Center for eight years, I decided to become a nurse practitioner and continue to focus on oncology. Abby Turner-Killen, FNP-BC, inherited her passion for medicine from her mother, who worked as a labor and delivery nurse. She chose to specialize in cardiology after working with cardiac patients in the coronary care unit at Holston Valley Medical Center. Turner-Killen enjoys getting to build relationships with patients and their families. Recently, the family of one of her patients came to visit. “They told me their mother had passed, and they wanted to thank me in person for the care I had given her,” she says. “We all shed a few tears and hugs.
